Nobody I have seen at the Fair has a tshirt that is as cool and attention getting as my own. I love to see the smiles and giggles and nudges from one person to another as they pass me and read my walking billboard.
Today however there was a t-shirt that is worthy of honorable mention. Worn by an much older gentleman, it showed a hand nailed to a board and was captioned, “Body Piercing Saved My Life”.
I get it. Jesus was nailed to the cross and that forced body piercing contributed to his death. It just seemed out of place and just wrong the equate the nailing of his hands to a board as being somehow on the same lines as having your body pierced.
The body piercing of the Lord Jesus did not save anybody. If anything, it was just cruel, animalistic, horrifying violence perpetrated upon an innocent soul. How such an act of inhumanity can be classified as ‘saving someone’ eludes even the warped and expanded mind trapped inside my head.
